Jennitha Anto win IPCA World Chess Championship in Third Time

Jennitha clinch title in Third time

       Wheel chair player of India, K.Jennitha Anto won the Gold in the Women section of the 15^thIPCA World Individual Chess Championship which was held in 18 - 27 June 2015 at Bratislava in Slovakia. She have won this Title Third in a row. 

    

       The tournament attracted 38 physically challenged chess players from 11 countries. Nearly 17 players use wheel chair. Jennitha being a wheel chair player participated in Fide A category and almost all the players are international rated players. Out of the 38 players, 9 were fide title holders added more challenge to the championship, 4IM’s, 2FM’s and 3WIM’s. On the whole the tournament is a tough tournament. The championship is based on the swiss system of nine rounds with 90 minutes per game plus bonus 30seconds for each move. Of the nine round Jennitha secured 4.5 points ending up winning three rounds, with three tie-ups and three loses. 

       The very first round She faced the first seed and IM of Russia Mr.Obodchuk Andrei and putting a maximum resistance spanning 4.5 hours, she lost. Second round she won. Third round she lost with Russian Player. Fourth round she won with Russian WIM Galina Melnik. Fifth round She won with Russian WIM Kaydanovich Marina. Six and seven rounds she drew with Czech Republic FM and high rated player. Eight round she lost. She drew Ninth round. However as per the Buchholz tie-break System, Jennitha Anto adjudged winner for holding more points. Jennitha Anto on the whole scored 33 points while Sataveva Lana of Russia Scored 31 points and Galina Melnik of Russia Scored 30 points secured the Silver and Bronze Medal.

    

She shares her experience during prize distribution function with pride, "when I have received my winner prize in Women section our Indian National Anthem was sung. This is the first time they played the song. I am very much proud of it".  

Initially she is trained by her father, G. Kanikai Iruthayaraj, the backbone of her victory. Then she was nurtured by N. Venkatraman and IM Raja Ravisekar, a renowned chess tutor in India. Now, she is training by FIDE Trainer K.Visweswaran.

The Rest of World Team vs Russian Team: 5.5- 3.5

            After the final round, the organizer of the 15^th IPCA World Chess Championship organized a special friendly Match between the Russian Team vs The Rest of World Team. One Team consist of ten players. Jennitha Anto represent on behalf of Rest of World which beat Russian Team with a whopping margin 6.5 -3.5.
